About Me
I was born in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, but I lived most of my life in Nonoai-RS. I am the middle of five siblings, four girls and one boy. My parents live and work in the city of Entre Rios, in Santa Catarina. It was 1994 when I began to search for religion, something that had meaning. I was raised in the Catholic Church, but was put off by the seeming deception in a “religious system”, I tried getting involved in the spirit world, tarot cards, horoscopes etc.., but none of these things left me with meaning or purpose. I read many self-help books which did anything but help. One day I was invited to a bible study that was going to be held at my dad’s place. A missionary from Missão Novas Tribos do Brasil (New Tribes Mission Brazil), who worked with the Kaingang tribe went all the way to his house to teach the Bible. I was blown away at the fact that I was able to understand the Bible, that Genesis made sense, and wasn’t just a story with no historical validity. So, from then on I continued to study the Bible and soon I understood who Jesus was, that I was/am a sinner, and that I needed as Savior, who was Jesus Christ. I understood that the emptiness that I felt could only be filled by the Holy Spirit of God. My life completely changed. Before, with self-help books, I tried to change with my own force and abilities. Today I know that God who changes me, and He really does! After since I accepted Christ as my Savior I have had the desire to be a missionary, and today the hymns that I know are the first songs I learned and most of them speak of reaching the unreached. However my whole life wasn’t sunshine. I also spend some time suppressing my relationship with God, and this was the worst time of my life.
A bit before finishing biochemistry in college, I came back to the Lord and the desire to be a missionary also returned, even stronger this time. I remember well one day when I was talking with Cynthia Isaak and I said, “I am doing the wrong course in college, I should be studying at a Bible college!”. Cynthia replied, “No way! You can serve God as a farmacist”. This opened a huge door in my mind. I began searching for ways to be involved with medicine and health in missions. I found many agencies, however never was able to get to talk to anyone!
When I finished farmacy and clinical analises, I spent some time without work, only helping my parents at home and with their businesses. During this team the team from Light in Action invited me to go with them on a filming trip in Paraná. I went. We spent two weeks camping in three locations! It was an amazing experience because I realized that I could serve God with what I had, with the abilities he had alread given me.
But I still had my student loan to pay off, so I decided to work until it was paid off and after, see if it was the Lord’s will that I join with Light in Action.
In November of 2009 while I was managing my dad’s farmacy I felt it was time to move to Natal to join with Light in Action where their were filming, even though I still had four payments left on my student loan.
Since then God has enabled me to do things that I would have never imagined. I am grateful to God because He is using my life to help produce materials that will do much more than reach just one tribe, but Lord willing thousands!
